Postgraduate Students Interview
Community & Conservation, Upskill study program A Postgraduate Journey of Udayana University Bali
4 international students share their transformative experience with upskill study's Bali program of Udayana university. Discover how they combine community action, hands-on learning, and cultural immersion for an unforgettable academic journey beyond textbooks.
After experiencing a transformative 16-week adventure in Bali, four international students from Austria and Germany share their insightful feedback, reviews, and impressions of the Upskill Study's Tropical Coastal Ecology & Community-Based Management Postgraduate Program. Thomas, Lennart, Florian, and Tobi took a break from their regular biology studies to delve into the unique ecosystems of Bali's coastal areas. Let's explore their diverse experiences and perspectives on this compelling study program.
Thomas - The Passionate Future Teacher
The Upskill program has been a pivotal chapter in my academic journey, serving as the capstone for my master's thesis. Returning for a second round after my bachelor's stint in 2019, I couldn't resist the allure of Bali's unique cultural experiences and impactful community-based conservation projects. Exploring the environmental impact of coastal ecosystems has been an eye-opener, and I'm truly grateful for the chance to witness the dedication of locals in preserving their environment.
Lennart - A Return for Bio-Mastery
I found myself drawn back to Bali for the postgraduate program after a transformative internship in Costa Rica. My journey here has been more than just academic—it's about the bonds forged with fellow students, the enriching cultural experiences, and the program's unique emphasis on hands-on field trips. What sets Upskill apart is its departure from the conventional academic approach, providing a holistic and inspiring environment that fosters not only academic but also personal and professional growth.
Florian and Tobi - Sibling Bond in Breathtaking Bali
Our connection with Bali runs deep. Having participated in the program during our bachelor's studies in 2019, Upskill has become synonymous with some of the best experiences of our lives. Florian, a 28-year-old physical therapist, and I, Tobi, a 25-year-old who worked in Costa Rica, credit Upskill for introducing us to inspiring individuals working on conservation projects in Bali. We value the program's unique focus on personal growth, the warm and trusting relationships with professors, and the exposure to various projects and NGOs that have shaped our perspectives.
Diverse Perspectives, Common Threads
The students collectively highlight the program's distinctive features, such as venturing into non-touristy areas, connecting with locals, and engaging in community-based projects. Their shared joy in exploring Bali beyond tourist hotspots is palpable, emphasizing the importance of cultural immersion and the positive impact of such experiences.
Upskill's Holistic Approach
A recurring theme among the students is the program's departure from conventional academic settings. The Upskill program stands out for its hands-on field trips, a departure from the rigid classroom environment. This approach allows students to witness real-world applications of their studies and connect with inspiring individuals and projects. The cultural trust and encouragement to explore, grow, and enjoy the learning journey distinguish Upskill from traditional educational institutions.
Bali in Their Words
As a delightful conclusion, each student encapsulates their Bali experience in three words or phrases. From "joyful, peaceful, and loving" to "simple, happy, and beautiful," the sentiments echo the deep connection formed with the vibrant culture, stunning landscapes, and the warmth of the Balinese people.
In the end, Upskill Study's Tropical Coastal Ecology & Community-Based Management Postgraduate Program emerges as more than an academic endeavor—it is a transformative journey, fostering personal, cultural, and academic growth. The students' feedback serves as a testament to the program's unique blend of education, cultural involvement, and hands-on experiences, making it a compelling choice for those seeking a holistic learning adventure in the heart of Bali.
