Bali, known for its stunning beaches, rich culture, and vibrant atmosphere, offers a unique learning experience amidst its tropical paradise. A few more months to go before the upskill of Udayana university’s summer course this July, it's essential to prepare adequately for your trip. Clothing

  • Campus Wear: Lightweight and breathable clothing are essential for the tropical climate of Bali. Pack comfortable attire suitable for classes and activities on campus.

  • Closed Shoes: While sandals are common in Bali, you'll also need closed shoes / sneakers for certain activities and visits to campuses where closed-toe shoes are required.

  • Proper Attire for Temple Visits: Bali is home to numerous temples where modest clothing is required out of respect. Ensure you have appropriate attire such as long pants or skirts and covered shoulders for temple visits.

  • Swimwear and Flip Flops: With Bali's abundance of beaches and outdoor activities, don't forget to pack your swimwear and comfortable flip flops for leisure time and field trips.

  • Caps and Sunglasses: Protect yourself from the sun during outdoor excursions with hats and sunglasses.

  • Long-wear for your outdoor activities to protect your skin from the sun and insects or mosquitos. Bringing mosquito repellent would also be recommended if you have sensitive skin.

Essentials:

  • Sunscreen: The sun in Bali can be intense, so pack a high SPF sunscreen to protect your skin.

  • Medications: Bring an adequate supply of any prescription medications you may need during your stay, as some medications may not be readily available in Indonesia. It's also a good idea to carry a basic first-aid kit.

  • Debit/Credit Cards: While cash is widely accepted in Bali, having debit or credit cards provides convenience for transactions. Consider bringing cards with RFID blocking for added security.

Weather

  • Climate: July and August are typically the dry season in Bali, characterized by warm temperatures and lower humidity. Expect plenty of sunshine and little rainfall during this time.

  • Temperature: Daytime temperatures range from 25°C to 31°C (77°F to 88°F), while evenings are fresher but still pleasant. Be prepared for humidity, especially near coastal areas.

Clothing Recommendations

  • Light Layers: Opt for lightweight, breathable fabrics such as cotton and linen to stay comfortable in the warm weather.

  • Rain Gear: Although rare, occasional rain showers can occur even during the dry season. Pack a lightweight rain jacket or umbrella just in case.
